Well, the 48 hours came and went, and it does not look like war. It appears as if Israel is destroying areas of Lebanon where Hizbollah can be found—unfortunately, many other areas where Hizbollah is not found are also being destroyed as an apparent punitive measure.

There are those who believe this is about an Israeli soldier, and there are those who believe Israel saw an opportunity to strike and it taking advantage of the opportunity.

Whatever is going on, the Middle East seems to be mired in gang warfare, not the prelude to regional or world war.
