Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

Why Learn?

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel:
“The crisis did not take place because we were spending too little but because we were spending too much to create growth that was not sustainable. It isn’t just that the banks took over too many risks. Governments allowed them to do so by neglecting to set the necessary [financial market] rules and, for instance in the US, by increasing the money supply too much.” [Read]

The great thing about the politicians in this country is they have nothing to learn from Germany's success. US politicians have shown repeatedly that they will not allow history, experience or wisdom interfere with ideology...why do you think they keep pushing failed European policies and Keynesian economics?

It is interesting that an administration brought in with the mantra of hope and change gave the American people the hopelessness of going double-down on the failures of past.
