Subject opinion to coercion: whom will you make your inquisitors? Fallible men, governed by bad passions, by private as well as public reasons. And why subject it to coercion? To produce uniformity? But is uniformity of opinion desirable? No more than of face and stature.

- Thomas Jefferson

It's Just Freedom

In a free society, you do not have to approve of what your neighbor does, you just have to allow them the freedom to do what they wish as long as it does not infringe on your rights.

Today, President Obama's "Drug Czar" said one of the following:

- Sugar is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit
- Alcohol is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit
- Caffeine is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit
- Marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit

The least dangerous is marijuana and the most medically beneficial is marijuana, so surely one of the other three answers was his focus.

"Legalization is not in the president's vocabulary, and it's not in mine," he said.

Kerlikowske said he can understand why legislators are talking about taxing marijuana cultivation to help cash-strapped government agencies in California. But the federal government views marijuana as a harmful and addictive drug, he said.

"Marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit," Kerlikowske said

In a free society, you would expect one has the right to do unto themselves any harm they may wish, but you would also assume in a free society you are responsible for the consequences of your choices. There does not seem to be a prominent politician out there who believes in freedom. Without a doubt, this administration believes in freedom less than the last, and that was one of the biggest complaints about the last.

FREEDOM! It is not just a word it is a way of life. Do you have the strength to believe in, to support freedom?
